A fast-track renovation of multiple locations, including three on the North Campus as well as two at a separate location. All work was coordinated to allow a corporate move within ten weeks of our joining the project.

ADOBE TOWER
Our work, in partnership with RLS/MCM, included the complete base-building physical infrastructure design of an eighteen story owner occupied high rise under construction in San Jose. We performed all construction and Information Technology budgets relating to network cabling and equipment, and developed contract documentation for bid..

ADOBE PLAZA
Renovation of six floors at a expansion location near Adobe Tower on a very aggressive schedule. Work has included the modification of Adobe Tower specifications and drawings to allow transfer of the technology design to this new location.

ALTERA CORPORATION
SAN JOSE, CA

Consultation for Phase One of this 500,000SF multiple building campus.

Consultation has included:

  • Complete Physical Infrastructure requirements for projected Information Technologies
  • Sizing and locating all required Equipment Rooms; HVAC and Electrical estimated loads; required vertical and horizontal connectivity
  • Close work with the Architectural and Design/Build team to define options to required infrastructure
  • Two Cabling construction and equipment Budgets
  • Outside Plant conduit recommendations
PACTEL CORPORATION
WALNUT CREEK, CA

Development and implementation of an Internet Protocol addressing scheme, based on TCP/IP, and a network management system for a 700 node network. This was a management system for an integrated network comprised of multiple Token Rings, Multiple Ethernets and a high speed backbone.

Consultation included:

  • Determination of Network Architecture
  • Development and Documentation of IP Addressing Requirements
  • Assign IP Addresses to Network Devices
  • Manage installation of Network Management Hardware & Software

AIRTOUCH CELLULAR
SAN FRANCISCO AND WALNUT CREEK

Complete network implementation, cable plant design and project management of 1,000 stations receiving fiber-optic connections at a Research and Design facility in Walnut Creek. We were involved with the successful selection of a cabling contractor for both the Walnut Creek and San Francisco sites and were also engaged to project manage the implementation of the new 1,400 node network for both locations. This work included the definition, configuration and negotiation for the "active" network components during which we played the role of acting members representing the in-house MIS team responsible for coordinating various vendors and the members of the Architectural/Engineering team.

SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, CA

Information Technologies design and implementation for a new 60,000SF location. Consultation for complete scope of Information Technologies and Security and Paging systems. Areas of work included:

Preliminary Design

Our consultation has concentrated on the Physical and Cabling Infrastructure required to support this 350,000sf information intensive Campus development.

In coordination with Octel we have:

  • Reviewed and annotated all of the current Information Technology studies and A/E Contract Documentation
  • Developed Laboratory, Corporate and Engineering Computer and PBX Room plans and equipment requirements throughout the facility
  • Developed Network Equipment Room plans and equipment requirements throughout the facility
  • Redesigned the campus conduit connectivity
  • Redesigned the current cable tray concept

Design and Project Management responsibilities for the entire Information Technologies design team for a 300,000SF, four building campus network design and implementation.

Consultation included:

  • Development of basic Information Technologies cabling and distribution concept
  • Review of complete Architectural and Engineering documentation to assure conformance with defined Information Technologies requirements
  • Coordination with systems furniture manufacturer for development of custom "technology port"
  • Scheduling and Critical Path development of Information Technologies
  • Site Inspection during construction

Project Managed a phased move of 2200 PG&E employees during a six month period.

Consultation included:

  • Serving as a "data analyst" resource to the internal PG & E group (ITS) responsible for all data and voice design services to PG & E
  • Responsibility for acting on behalf of PG & E with all internal "end-users", establishing requirements, writing "service orders" and defining ITS requirements at project meetings

Master Planning for a 600,000SF campus environment. Project included:

Information Technologies Requirements

  • Complete review of current network and equipment technologies. Direction on future Data/Voice network options, preparation of a report describing Network scenarios and Architectural/Engineering consequences to be incorporated in Design Development Drawings.
  • Preliminary budget for all Information Technologies components.
  • Physical Infrastructure Requirements
    • Completion of a report defining consequences of anticipated Information Technologies on the Architectural and Electrical/Mechanical design including:
      • Campus Civil Engineering Data/Voice distribution options
      • Complete review of Schematic Design documentation including network equipment room sizing and counts, general distribution options, circuiting (isolated and/or dedicated) loads and requirements, PBX "node" locations.

    SAN RAFAEL, CA

    Retrofit of a existing 90,000SF facility for administrative offices and software development and support. Established and managed a unique design/build team with the Client and Contractor. Consultation included:

    Network Design

    • Worked with the Client to refine and finalize the Physical Layer of Information Technologies design and infrastructure.
    • Established the location and fit-out parameters of equipment rooms, closets and shafts, cable way locations, outlet and device locations.
    • Prepared electrical and HVAC requirements definition for network equipment rooms.
    • Worked with the Client and Contractor to develop the network cabling budget.

    Network Cabling Specification

    • Produced the RFP and documentation of the Physical layer of the cable plant. The specification includes the definition of cabling to all nodes, vertical backbone cabling, distribution methodologies, patching, rack and rack accessory requirements, and the installation, testing and acceptance criteria for the installed Information Technologies cabling network.

    We were responsible for Project Management and the cabling RFP for this 125,000SF engineering and administrative campus facility.

    Consultation into the early construction phases included:

    • Definition of project goals, definition of Client responsibilities and definition of Project deliverables.
    • Complete Project Management of Network Design team to deliver:
      • Integrated Voice/Data Network Design.

    Network implementation and project management for this 125,000SF facility. Provided assistance to the architect in the modification of the base building design to accommodate requirements of the client’s information technologies. This included sizing, locating and planning the 6,000sf Computer Room and the addition of four network closets on each floor which became integral in the planning process.
