KATHLEEN A. CLANCY
BACKGROUND
Kathleen Clancy is the President of KC/future
planning, inc., and has a broad background in Information
Technology design and applications including:

Her specific skills are particularly
useful in assisting MIS and Telecommunications
departments in defining overall Information Technology
strategies and goals as related to the design and
construction of new and renovated facilities, as well as
supporting the detailed implementation of these goals
during the course of the project. These skills also
include complete familiarity with various Voice, LAN/WAN
network equipment, system design options,
interoperability within heterogeneous computing
environments and current EIA/TIA standards.
Ms. Clancy received her Bachelor of
Science degree in Quantitative Psychology from the
University of California at Los Angeles in 1982.
PRIOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Project manager for a leading
telecommunications consulting firm and responsible for
the development and design of several data centers before
the founding of KC/future planning, inc.
As a Consultant to the
telecommunications firm, she was responsible for
Information Technologies design in a wide variety of
campus and high-rise developments.
Primarily responsible for the design
and operation of the Statewide data communications
network for the Judicial Council of California on the
Appellate Court Computer Automation Project.
Operations Manager for the national
data center of a legal publishing firm.
REPRESENTATIVE PROJECTS
Network Equipment Technologies
Fremont, CA
Designed and supervised network
cabling requirements for this 280,000 square foot,
three-building facility and Engineering Laboratory.
Pactel Corporation Walnut
Creek, CA
Developed the Internet Protocol
addressing scheme, determined network architecture,
managed installation of of Network Management
Hardware and Software. Ms. Clancy developed all
Training Requirements and coordinated the training of
staff. Coordinated multiple vendors and supervised
cutover to the new Network Management system.
3Com Corporation
Acted as Project manager for the
entire Information Technologies Design team.
Responsible for the review of Architectural and
Engineering documentation to assure conformance with
Information Technologies requirements.
Port of Oakland - Oakland, CA
Development of a long-range
Information Systems Plan for the implementation of
new applications and technology over the next five
years. Scope of technologies included: Financial
Systems, Desktop Systems, Engineering Support, Local
and Wide Area Networks.
State of Montana - Helena, MT
Strategic Information Systems plan
for technologies within the State Capitol. Written
with the objective of providing technological tools
within the seat of government and providing more open
and efficient access to the state governor,
legislators and other agencies housed in the Capitol.
AREAS OF PROFESSIONAL PARTICIPATION
Ms. Clancy participates as a Project
Director and Senior Consultant in the following areas:
- Strategic Network Services
planning; Business needs are matched with
Information Technology service levels and
staffing requirements to develop strategies for
growth and migration. Routing, switching, remote
access, WAN technology, Internet services and
security are all areas that are addressed during
Network Service planning.
- Network design; incorporating
protocol selection, ramifications of protocol
implementation, hardware specifications and
infrastructure issues to create a detailed
network design reflecting the pre-defined Network
Service levels. Design may also include layout of
the physical plant, wiring specifications and
considerations for placement of network equipment.
- Technical specification and vendor
selection; creation of Request for Quotes and
Request for Proposals that are matched to the
network design. Assistance to clients in
comparing bids and interfacing with vendors to
clarify performance, support and service issues.
- Migration Planning, which includes
designating categories of responsibility and
creating task lists and timelines for migration
to the new technology. This is done either in the
context of a physical move or as part of a system
upgrade.
- Project Management during the
network equipment installations and cabling plant
implementation, including coordination of all
vendors and contractors.
